Geyer, Georgie Anne (Author)
Georgie Anne Geyer was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 2, 1935. She received a bachelor's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. She worked at The Southtown Economist before moving to The Chicago Daily News in 1960. She became a foreign correspondent in Latin America in 1964. During this time, she was embedded with leftist guerrillas in Guatemala and interviewed Fidel Castro and Saddam Hussein. She left The Daily News in 1974. She established herself as a syndicated columnist based in Washington and continued to write her column until a few weeks before her death.

She wrote several books including Buying the Night Flight: The Autobiography of a Woman Foreign Correspondent, Guerrilla Prince: The Untold Story of Fidel Castro, Americans No More, and When Cats Reigned Like Kings: On the Trail of the Sacred Cats. She died on May 15, 2019 at the age of 84.
