Mitch
is a story about the daily lives of the Mitch Degan family from 1908 to 1943. Although based on fact heard from stories passed down from generation to generation, the exact dialogue between characters is obviously unknown.
Even though all members of the Degan family were not included, their lives and contributions were woven into the text of the book through names, quips and sayings that only the Degan family would recognize.
As grandson of Mitch Degan, I tried to portray him as I have always imagined him. All the stories told to me by my father, Joe Degan, are wrapped around the words and phrases in this book. He always spoke highly of "Papa" and I intend for my children and grandchildren to read about a bit of our heritage and always have the stories that Papa can no longer tell us.
