More DescriptionAfter thirty plus years as one of Boston's head prosecutors Luther Gatti was convinced he had already seen both the best and the worst the legal system had to offer. Alone by choice, with the exception of the constant following by detective Marcel Saxe, Luther finds his only joy on the courtroom floor in the midst of a trial. When facts do not add up in a child homicide case Marcel convinces Luther to examine the discrepancies leading to strikingly similar cases in nearby states. Realizing that the wrong men have been put away for the seven other crimes Luther strains to uncover a motive and convince the police department to reopen the investigations. With no support in any form, besides that of Marcel, Luther is forced to reevaluate his personal definition of justice. In the mean time Marcel, still chasing a dream and struggling to gain respect from fellow officers, faces the decision of where to point his moral compass as well as his loyalty. Untrusting of his own judgments and determined to prove himself Marcel ends up ready to throw away his entire life's work to get a break. A homicide detective afraid of corpses is no use to anyone. The bodies were not hidden. The killer is more cunning than half the lawyers in the city. The men in prison are far from innocent. Curiosity has killed a lot of cats in its time, but it also has probably offed twice as many lawyers.
