More DescriptionThis is a graphic novel (part one) that is a true story of Bud and Temp Abernathy, ages 9 and 5 who rode horseback, by themselves from Frederick, Oklahoma to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1909. It is their story of their trip and the things and circumstances they went to to get to their destination and then back to Guthrie, Oklahoma. The boys were sons of Jack Abernathy, a well-known US Marshall who had a reputation for catching wolves with his bare hands. He was friends with Quannah Parker and Teddy Roosevelt. This is mentioned in my book as well to explain some of why the boys did what they did and why and also how their family of four sisters and their dad had supported them. This is one part of a 2-3 part series of trips they had made very young in age. (Part 2 will be their trip by themselves to New York City and then later a trip on a motorcycle to San Fransisco.
