Author Biography
Godfrey, Rebecca (Author)
Rebecca Margot Godfrey, author, journalist, editor and teacher, was born on December 2, 1967, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She began her career as a journalist and editor. She worked in Toronto and New York. Her first novel, The Torn Skirt, was published in 2001. Her second book was nonfiction. Under the Bridge, was published in 2005. It received British Columbia's National Award for Nonfiction in 2006. Godfrey was also an adjunct assistant professor of creative writing at Columbia University. She taught fiction workshops and a seminar on Anti-Heroines in literature. Rebecca Godfrey died on October 3, 2022, in New York City, from lung cancer. She was 54.
