It is written from the heart with knowledge from my previous nursing, prescribing and drinking career and includes some real-life stories and experiences, as well as referenced facts, research and resources. Whilst centred around alcohol, this book can help with any addiction and you don't have to be addicted to benefit from it - just one drink of alcohol affects our body's ability to function and work correctly and increases our risk of cancer and illness. Whilst alcohol is the most socially accepted drug of our time it is also the most dangerous and is as carcinogenic as asbestos and nicotine. Just two drinks a night increases a woman's chance of breast cancer by 30 - 40% and just one glass a night post menopause. A group of Canadian doctors are pressing for alcohol to carry cancer warnings and the World Health Organisation have put forward a strategy to reduce the advertising, marketing and availability of alcohol by 2030 due to the risk of alcohol to the individual and society as a whole.
